Audience:

This short workshop will demystify the publication process and offer guidance to early career researchers on how to publish their work in business and management outlets. The workshop will concentrate mainly on publishing qualitative research.

 

The workshop will address the following questions: 

  • What are the reasons for rejection in top tier journals?
  • What are the current trends in qualitative research in top management journals?
  • What is the key criticism that qualitative submissions attract?
  • How can we address such criticism?

Detailed course notes, examples and relevant literature will be provided to course participants.

Emmanuella Plakoyiannaki is Chair of International Business at the University of Vienna, Austria and Visiting Professor at Leeds University Business School (LUBS), UK. She is Associate Editor at the British Journal of Management and Co-Chair of the International Business/International Management SIG of the British Academy of Management (BAM). Her research interests include qualitative research as well as SMEs and Family Firms internationalisation. She has published in various academic journals including the Academy of Management Review, Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of World Business and Journal of Management Studies among others. She has received the 2021 Journal of International Business Studies (JIBS) Decade Award for her co-authored paper “Theorising from Case Studies: Towards a Pluralist Future for International Business Research”.
