Audience:
This course builds on my Thesis Writing and Writing for Publication courses by focusing on the whole process of academic writing. Step by step, week by week, this course works through five stages of writing: planning, invention, composing, revising and editing. The ‘joy’ of writing is when it is a managed process of these steps, and each step will be defined. Participants will work on each of these stages in relation to a chapter or paper they are currently writing, and there will be group discussions of their work at each stage. I will provide feedback.
The course will also address the needs and interests of participants, who will be invited to define particular challenges that writing presents, and these will be addressed in the course. There will be writing activities and plenty of time to talk about where you are at with your writing and what you are writing during this course. This course is likely to be most useful for students who are in the later stages of thesis writing.
Please note that this course is not open for registration. The call for registration has been circulated to those who have previously undertaken the Thesis Writing workshop with Rowena Murray.
