The aim of the Structured Writing Retreats is to use dedicated writing time to progress and prioritize our writing projects. This is in a supportive, non-surveillance environment. The retreat is based on 3 evidence based key principles:
-
- The ‘typing pool’ which means that we all write individually but are in the same room for the duration of the retreat (Grant & Knowles 2000).
- The use of a series of strict, fixed writing and discussion slots (McGrail et al 2006).
- The use of peer discussion to review progress during the retreat (Murray 2005).
More detail of the retreat structure can be found in Murray and Newton (2009).
